Mangaluru: UT Khader launches software to track malaria cases
Mangaluru, 17 Oct 2015: Health Minister UT Khader on Saturday launched a malaria control software system, an initiative that would help keep a track of malaria cases as well as reports in all areas under the jurisdiction of the MCC.
This is the first-of-its kind initiative in the country.
Speaking at the launch, Khader said that the software would help in reducing malaria cases. “The number of cases should go down in the next three years and that the aim was to make Mangaluru the first city in the state and country to eradicate malaria,” he said.
MLA JR Lobo, speaking on the occasion said that Information Technology was vital and has been integrated in the health sector. He added that many people have worked towards designing and bringing out the software.
Madhukumar, MCC Environmental Engineer said that the software would help report cases of malaria and also identify various stages of the disease. He said that the software contained four modules - collecting data, action management, risk analysis and prediction analysis and only two were launched.
MLA Mohiddin Bava, Mayor Jacintha Alfred and former mayor Shashidhar Hegde were present on the occasion.
