Abu Dhabi: Konkan Motiyan presents Kavita Bhanvar, unique event of 3 genres of Poetry

Abu Dhabi, 30 Aug 2015: Konkan Motiyan, here Kavita Bhanvar, an unique event comprising 3 different genres of Konkani poetry at Foodlands auditorium, here on Friday August 28.
Curtain raiser was the prayer and welcome speech by the president Wilfy Fernandes followed by a prayer dance by Monisha Rasqinha. Wilson Pinto presented a prelude to the cultural extravaganza.
Renowned singers from all over UAE, Melvyn D’Souza, Prashath Sequeira, Lydwin Cutinha, Godwin D’Souza, Divya Pinto, Ida Fernandes, Melvyn Fernandes, Wilfy Fernandes, Rony D’Souza, Alwyn D’Souza, Ashwin, Eileen D’Costa and the little Ishney Fernandes enthralled the audience with popular Konkani hits specially chosen for this event.
Group dance performances by children of Abu Dhabi (Monisha, Monal, Ishney, Keona, Deona & Macleen) and Dubai (Viola and Vidisha) entertained the audience.
The icing on the cake was the folklore of Konkani culture ‘Gumta Podam’ titled ‘Goin Sandun Aili Mai’ and ‘Santhanichia Dongrar’ led by Sannu Monis and Wilson Pinto which mesmerized the young and old alike.
Kavigosti – recital of Konkani poems by budding poets like Suresh Saldanha, Darrel D’Souza, Melwin Kalakul, Mario Barnes provided them the first opportunity to present their poetic talent. Veteran poets like Wilson Pinto, Dony Correa, Arthur Pereira, P.J. Karugalnade, Godwin D’Souza, Stany Bela, Preetham Kirem, Wilfy Fernandes, kept the audience spellbound. The whole Kavigosti was interactively anchored by veteran poet Sannu Monis with his witty humor.
Kavita Bhanvar had its finale with the presentation of the traditional ‘Mando’ and ‘Vaerse,’ another form of Konkani folklore, by the members of Konkan Motiyan.
Ida Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Prashanth Sequeira was on keyboard along with Errol Serao on bass guitar. Ronnie D’Souza was at his best with his sound system and photography. The whole program was concluded by the traditional ‘Laudate.’
The event was compered jointly by Wilfy Fernandes and Godwin D’Souza.
