Yodling King Melwin Peris Rocks at Delhi with his 95th Nite at New Delhi

New Delhi, 04 August 2014: On August 3rd Kanara Cultural Association (KCA) of Delhi organised ever first Cultural evening of Yodling King Melwin Peris at St. Michael’s School auditorium, New Delhi. KCA Secretary Mr. Prashnat D’Souza welcomed the team and KCA President Mr. Elias Pinto welcomed dignitary with floral bouquet. Program was inaugurated by Archbishop Vincent Concessao Archbishop Emeritus of Delhi. Dignitaries were former Minister Mr. Oscar Fernandes and Mrs. Blosom Fernandes, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Mr. Roy Castelino, Karnataka Sangha Delhi President Mr. Vasanth Shetty Bellare, Representative of Goinkarancho Ekvot Delhi Ms. Uttara and Fr. Chetan Machado, Spiritual director of KCA.
KCA children performed prayer dance, then KCA presented the history on power point of last Forty Eight years. After which Melwin Peris and his team performed two and half hours nonstop performance of Singing, Dance and Jokes. Mr. Jerry Rasquinha, compared the program. Singers were; Mr. Melwin Peris, Ms. Anita D’Souza, Mr. Robin Sequeira, Ms. Carol Sequeira and Mr. Nestor Peris. Music team consisted of Mr. Joel Pereira on key board, Mr. Roshan D’Souza on lead guitar, Mr. Jerome Coelho on bass guitar and Mr. Melwyn Fernandes on drums. Dances were performed by KCA youth.
KCA honoured Mr. Melwin Peris recognising his contribution for past 32 years. ICYM National Director Fr. Franklin read the ‘MAAN PATR’. Mr. Oscar fernandes felicitated Melwin for his achievements. KCA thanked Mr. Roy Castelino and in his speech he appreciated the hard work of KCA Delhi. He said Konkani language is blessing which unites and serves without expecting anything. He enumerated the history of Konkani language.
Mr. Vasanth Shetty Bellare in his speech he appreciated the hard work of KCA and promised his full support for future programs. He enumerated that how he and his family was supported by a Konkani family. So he is indebted to Konkani Community. KCA will be given opportunity to perform and use the Kannada Sanga auditorium in future programs. Mr. Elias Pinto thanked presented mementos to all the dignitaries as well as benefactors and well wishers. Program was concluded by 15 minutes non stop baila by Melwin and his team. Dinner was served for all.
