City Airport Customs seize foreign currency worth INR 6.7 lac from Sharjah Passenger

Mangalore, 17 Jun 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) seized assorted foreign currency worth Indian Rs 6.70 lac possessed illicitly by a passenger and concealed inside personal clothing kept in the hand baggage. Jaleel Kunhu Kutty is a resident of Hidayath Nagar, Kasargod, who arrived from Sharjah by Jet Airways Flight No 9W531 on Tuesday June 17 at 8.00am.
The above operation was conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, deputy commissioner of customs, MIA by a team led by superintendent H B Venkatesh, along with superintendents R S Venkatram, G V Prabhu, R G Gaonkar, S K Nelli and inspectors Bikram Chakraborthy, P C Padhi, Prasanna Kumari and Devendra Pratap Singh, Havaldars Gopal and Sowmya Naik.
Further investigation is under progress, under the guidance of the Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore.
