Kundapur MLA firm on resigning
Udupi, 16 Jul 2012: L aw minister Suresh Kumar on Monday left empty handed as his efforts to placate Haladi Srinivas Shetty, who has decided to resign as MLA miffed with not being given a cabinet berth after being assured one, did not cut ice with the latter.
Kumar had a long chat with Shetty at his residence in Kundapur. He (Kumar) is a good man with principles. I respect him. I told him that I had made the decision in an e quanimous state of mind. There is no going back on that decision,’’ Shetty told.
He said he had never aspired anything other than people’s welfare. "They have humiliated me,’’ he added.
Regarding whether he will resign from the party’s primary membership, Shetty said, "I cannot say anything about it now.’’ Kumar said that he fervently hoped that Shetty would change his mind.
Shetty was on his way to Bangalore from Kundapur to submit his reignation to the speaker on on Tuesday.
