Mangaluru: KNS holds Inter-Parish Singing Competition

Mangaluru, 04 Aug 2016: Konkani Natak Sabha® (KNS) Mangaluru organized the 53nd Inter Parish Singing Competition for children of different parishes of Mangalore diocese at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday July 31.
The competition was inaugurated by Fr Paul Melvyn D’Souza, president of KNS along with office bearers.
The competition was held in 2 parts - out of city parishes and city parishes in the categories of 5 years to 10 years and 10 years to 15 years.
Eighty-one competitors from 9 parishes took part in the out of city parishes for the solo, duet and mixed group. Gurpur parish bagged the first place, Nithyadar Nagar parish won the second and Allipade parish the third.
Among the city parishes, 63 competitors from 9 parishes took part in solo, duet and mixed group. Bejai parish bagged the first place, Bajjodi parish the second and Cordel parish the third place.
The jury comprised Sylvia Fernandes, Roshan Martis and Ivan. Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Jossy Theodore and Judy D’Souza compered. KNS general secretary Sunil Menezes announced the results. Floyd D’Mello proposed vote of thanks.
