Talking to the reporters he said that he is extremely sorry for the behaviour of the Bangalore police who lathicharged innocent cricket fans.
Violence had erupted in Bangalore on Thursday after fans were told all 7000 tickets allocated for public sale for the 50,000-seat stadium sold out, sparking accusations by the ICC that its own president was guilty of mismanagement in the ticket distribution process.
Lorgat said that the rush for tickets was an indication that the 50-over format of the game was still alive and very popular but rued the fact that too few tickets were made available for public sale.
