Udupi: Dr. Koradkal’s ‘Aruna Clinic’ shifted to new premises in M’belle

Udupi/M’belle, 05 Jan 2014: Dr. R.R. Koradkal’s ‘Aruna Clinic’ which had been functioning from the Lobo Mansion near the  bus stop since the last 50 years has been shifted to the newly constructed premises near the rickshaw stand on Sunday, 5 January 2014. The new well furnished premises  of the clinic was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle at 9.15 am. B. Sadananda Rao, retired teacher and a close friend and well-wisher of late Dr. R.R. Koradkal formally opened the clinic in the new premises by lighting the lamp.

 

Prior to the lighting of the lamp, one minute silence was observed in memory of late Dr. R.R. Koradkal who had provided medical service to the people of Moodubelle.

 

In his message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that late Dr. Koradkal had started the clinic to provided medical service to the poorer sections of the village and since the last 50 years many people had benefited by the selfless and dedicated service of Dr. Koradkal. After his death, his daughter-in-law, Dr. Rajeshwari has been rendering this service. He also said that the Koradkal family has been rendering medical service to the students of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. He wished the Koradkal family well and prayed for Divine blessings.

 

B. Sadananda Rao in his address said that he has been a part of the Koradkal family and recalled the days when Dr. R.R. Koradkal opened the dispensary to cater for the medical needs of the villagers. He said that Dr. Koradkal was not only a good medical practitioner but also a conscientious social activist who worked for the good of people.

 

The inauguration of Aruna Clinic in the new premises  was attended by a number of dignitaries including Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Fr. P. Raj-Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, P.L. Bhat-Principal of Jnanaganga PU College, Nellikatte, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-member Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Rajendra Shetty-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, A.G. D’Souza-member Belle Grama Panchayat, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council and members of the Koradkal family.

 

 

Devdas Hebbar-former President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat compeered the programmed, welcomed the guests and proposed the vote of thanks. 

  
Dr. R.R. Koradkal was born on 10 June 1935 as the youngest son of Srinivas Koradkal, a well known teacher and writer and Smt. Satyabhama. He had his preliminary education in the Board High School, Udupi and later obtained GCIM degree in medicine from Madras Medical College.

 

 

As there was practically no medical facility in Moodubelle, Dr. R.R. Koradkal started as a General Practitioner in October 1961. He earned the confidence of his patients and gradually became quite popular among the people of Moodubelle and surrounding regions by his humane approach and effective practice of medicine. He rendered selfless and dedicated medical service to the people and gained recognition as the best trusted ‘Family Physician’.

 

While practicing medicine, Dr. Koradkal kept himself busy with socio-cultural activities. He was an active member of IMA Udupi and Rotary Club, Udupi.

 

Dr. Koradkal married in May 1963 to Lakshmi Koradkal and had three daughters and a son who are all married and settled down. His son, Gopalkrishna Koradkal is managing a medical store and a Clinical Laboratory and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rajeshwari Koradkal continues to provided medical service to the people of Moodubelle and surrounding villages since the unfortunate death of  Dr. R. R. Koradkal  on 23 May 2008.

Congratulations to entire korodkal family A new building with a new start in this new year..as in our past days when we were kids we were treated by Dr Korodkal,he was a man who was not only a good doctor..but a good human being too...24 hours available for his patients,he even took good care of those people who could not pay even for his medications...those days..when their was no street lights no vehicles..but still he was always their for his patients..the same way his children are continuing his good work...A doctor to treat a sick and a medical to give the needful medicines..I wish all the best to the newly opened Aruna clinic and korodkal family..may good bless you Smile is the best medicine

The late R. R. Koradkal has done a lot to the Belleans in the field of Medical care in the past five decades with utmost care and conscientiousness and now Dr. Rajeshwari has been a good help for everyone in and around Moodbelle.The simplicity in which she handles any patients who walk in to her clinic is commendable. Now then the Aruna Clinic has been shifted to a new and large premise for better facilities. I extend my hearty wishes and Congratulations to the entire Koradkal family.

Dr. Koradkal always for poor people who never gave service for money . He worked for poor people and still he iis in everyone s heart. Dr. Rajeshwari is on the path of Dr. Koradkal, and her smiley service day and night as well for all. Really blessed family. All the best for new clinic to Koradkal Family.
