Concessional Passes in Mangalore – Udupi – Manipal – Kundapura Express Buses

Mangalore, 10 November 2010: Canara Bus Nirvahakara Sangha will be implementing monthly concessional bus passes for the regular passengers from November 15. In this route currently about 170 buses are running. In the first phase 125 buses will be implemented with this new pass system. The front side of the buses in which the passes are applicable will have white and red stickers written CCT on it.

 

“In order to provide the public with a better service and to avoid the misuse of C system, this new system is being adopted”, said K. Rajavarma Ballal, President of Canara Bus Nirvahakara Sangha, in the press conference. Also present in the press conference were the bus owners Kishan Hegde, Jyothi Prasad Hegde and Raghavendra Bhat.

 

Passengers can submit the applications along with Rs. 50 and obtain the Identity cards from the specified centers. The applications will be available from November 10. The centers, where applications available are; Mangalore (Canara Bus Owner’s Office, Mangalore Bus Stand), Udupi (Sugama Tourist, Udupi Bus Stand) and Kundapura (Durgamba Motors, Kundapura Bus Stand). There are plans to open more centers.

 

 

About the concessional pass: Passengers are required to purchase 40 coupons required for 20 days. These coupons can be used in 30 days duration. If the coupons are consumed within 20 days, there is provision to buy additional coupons.

 

In this system the regular passengers are given special concession. At present, between Mangalore – Udupi the normal rate is Rs. 38, the concessional rate is Rs. 21. Between Mangalore – Mulki the normal rate is Rs. 19, the concessional rate is Rs. 12. Udupi – Kundapura the normal rate is Rs. 27, the concessional rate is Rs. 16.50.
