Udupi, 22 Mar 2014: The voters in Udupi – Chikmagalur LS constituency will have decisive role in electing their preferred candidate in the upcoming general elections for LS. On the one hand, the waves favoring BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi are strongly felt, while the strong waves in favor of Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde also felt in equal terms.
The new voters are likely to play key role in deciding destiny of candidates, the LS poll results will reveal their preferred choice.
JDS bagged third place by securing 70,000 votes in the last LS polls, it would further dwindle in this time, as per JDS calculations. The former minister Dhananjay Kumar, a native of Mangalore, who rejoined JDS was given a chance at once to contest in the upcoming LS polls, has irked the party activists.
Although there are certain differences among party activists of BJP for issuing party ticket to the former minister Shobha Karandlaje of Puttur to contest in the upcoming LS polls, the activists in large numbers are already busy campaigning on her behalf. Shobha also rejoined BJP along with B S Yeddyurappa form KJP.
One has to wait and see whether the community of Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde will support hi. Congress regained the reign in the town council as the same party rules in state governance. Meanwhile, party pundits speculate that since Congress reigned civic body failed to address the grievances of people on drinking water and electricity; it would face setbacks. It seems the party activists are also enthusiastic in poll campaign along with key party men.
It’s significant that the number of independent candidates contesting in this LS also dwindled; hence the new voters are likely to decide the destiny of candidates.
