Udupi: LIC Sells 10,000 Policies with Over Rs 6 Crore Annual Premium on Auspicious Date 12-12-2012

Udupi, Dec 14: The date December 12 2012 has proved lucky for LIC, while its Udupi division sold over 10,000 policies on just one day on Wednesday December 12 that has generated first year premium of over Rs 6 crore. It has created a record in the history of LIC.
LIC had embarked on wide publicity by distributing advertising materials on the significance of buying life insurance policies on the auspicious day of December 12 2012. Besides, it has advised its branches to sell a minimum of 1,212 policies and for the agents to sell 12 policies. As a result, a large of customers rushed to LIC branches that have opened their offices at 4.00am and transacted business up till 8.00pm.
In the auspicious occasion of November 11 2011, Udupi division of LIC sold 1,670 policies and collected a first year premium of Rs 1.50 crore.
It was on December 12 2011, LIC has sold 1,453 policies and earned first year premium of Rs 93 lac. Meanwhile, it has capitalized on the numerological significance of December 12 2012 to sell over 10,000 policies and secured Rs 6 crore in just one day.
LIC has devised a plan, as not to let the customers who were unable to buy policies on December 12 2012. It will backdate the policies for the benefit of customers who avail this service till March 31 2013, said Udupi divisional senior manager N S Shirahatti.
