Ten days of my recent Xmas holdiays travel took me to churches in parishes of Pamboor,Moodubelle, Kanajar, Nakre, Karkala Town, Karkala Attur, Udipi Town, Pangla, Shirva, Palimar, Moodubidri Town, Hospet, Gurpur-Kaikamba, Mangalore-Milagris, Mangalore-Rosario, Mangalore-Bendoor, Mangalore-Bondel, Mangalore-Valencia. I spent limited time inside church premises, and my observation may therefore be skewed. But, I was impressed by plantations at Nakre. The Nakre priests have proven themselves as agriculturists. Reminded me of Fr. Denis D Souza in Pamboor during the sixties. Someone had told me to visit Kuntalnagar church too; but, didn t. I hope the described activities are not seen as tokenisms, but turn into sustained programs, and I would live to see the teak trees proliferate.

It is an important fact that fruit bearing plants should be planted, so that people will take care of them atleast for the fruits and at the same time the plant will contribute to the environment.
