Ralegoan, Maharashtra, 02 June 2011: Dismissing all suggestions about a rift in the civil society, veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare, Thursday, announced that he will take part in Baba Ramdev’s movement against black money and corruption.
“I will join Baba Ramdev on June 5. I will sit with on the dais, discuss many issues,” Hazare said while speaking to reporters at his native village in Ahmednagar district.
“We will fight together against corruption. We will fight with Baba; if we all get together then govt will have to concede to our demands,” he added.
Hazare made it clear that there is unity in the civil society members and the perception that Ramdev is upset about the inclusion of father-son duo of Shanti and Prashant Bhushan in the Lokpal Bill drafting committee is not correct, as the yoga guru has backed the inclusion of competent people in the drafting committee.
The noted social activist hit out at government by accusing it of cheating the civil society by diluting its demands on the Lokpal Bill.
On the virtual red-carpet welcome accorded to Ramdev yesterday by senior most ministers of the union cabinet, Anna said the ministers did not go to the airport with an open heart, “it is a tactic”, he feels.
“Baba has been asking for the bringing back of black money for long but why did not the government take his demands into consideration? Now that he has announced that he will go on fast they are clamouring to mollify him,” he added.
Bab Ranmdev has announced to go on a fast unto death from June 4 at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan demanding that black money be brought back and a strong Lokpal Bill be drafted.
