Mumbai: Maha Konkan Association distributes scholarship to students

Mumbai, 04 Oct 2014: Maharashtra Konkan Association® organized the distribution of scholarship programme at St Jude’s parish auditorium, Jerimeri, here on recently.
St Jude’s parish priest Fr Lancy Pinto presided the programme and distributed the scholarship to the students on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Pinto said that healthy society reigns in total literacy. The children irrespective of caste, creed and religion should be encouraged to study. There should not be partiality in education. The national progress lies in educated society. It has to be understood by the social welfare and voluntary organization to help the students in their studies in whatever the possible way they can, said Fr Pinto.
The Association former president Walter D’Souza Kalmady, secretary Vincent Castelino, treasurer Gratian and John Veigas were present on the dais.
The scholarship was distributed to Glancita Fernandes, Remita Miranda, Anson Coelho, Lester Castelino, Royston Pereira, Olivia Pereia, Roselyn and other students.
Fr Pinto honored Joe Pereira who secured doctorate in Konkani on the same occasion.
The Association president Leo Fernandes compered the programme. Joseph D’Souza read the citation letter. Vincent Castelino proposed vote of thanks.
Konkani musical concert was presented by Gerry Bondel, Levin Fernandes, Glancita Fernandes and others as part of cultural programme.
