Last holy visit for this Muslim devotee

Karwar, 16 January 2011: When Mehboobsaab Maddi told his Muslim friends that this would probably be his last pilgrimage to Sabarimala, little did he or his friends know that Maddi’s fate was already sealed.

 

 

The 22-year-old devout Muslim from Konewada, who had been going to Sabarimala every year for the past five years, was killed in Friday’s stampede while returning to a parking place after witnessing the Makara Jyoti.

 

 

Maddi is survived by his parents and two brothers. He was part of the 20-member pilgrim group from Konewada. Some of the other pilgrims in the group sustained minor injuries and are expected to return to Karwar within two days.
