Kuwait: Large Numbers of Mangalorean Expats Partake in KCWA Athletic Meet

Kuwait, 17 Oct 2013: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) organized the first ever athletic meet for all Mangalorean Catholic expatriates, at Kuwait Athletic Association stadium, Keifan, here on Wednesday October 16.
It was inaugurated in the presence of eminent personalities Fr Noel D’Almeida, KCWA former president Lawrence Pinto, Pascal Pinto, Rudy D’Souza and Stephen Machado, by Alex Rego, Rajesh Aranha, Lancy Rodrigues, Renita D’Mello, Naveen Mascarenas an Manohar Prabhu by lighting the lamp.
The office bearers of KCWA honored Rick Wanczycki, regional sales manager of Hempel Paints Kuwait, who was the key sponsors for the athletic meet.
The athletic meet began with shot put competition and 400 meter race.
A large number of spectators were present to view the athletic meet at the stadium.
Over 400 participants of different age groups participated in 400 meter and 800 meter races, high jump, long jump, javelin throw and tug of war.
The prizes were distributed to all the winners of different competitions on the occasion.
The food stalls set up at the stadium sold snacks and beverages, food at subsidized rates.
KCWA governing council thanked all the participants and also the spectators for partaking in the first ever athletic meet that concluded on Wednesday evening.
Lydia rendered the prayers. KCWA president Anil Fernandes welcomed the gathering.
