Mangalore: Comedian Dolla Mangalore qualifies for Konkani Kutam Award- 2013

Mangalore, 24 Jul 2013: Theatre artist Avitas Adolphus Cutinha also known as Dolla Mangalore will be awarded with twelfth Bahrain Konkani Kutam Award – 2013, in recognition of his contribution to Konkani.
Announcing this to media persons here on Wednesday July 24, Konkani Kutam Bahrain convener Richard Moras said that awards will be presented during a function at St Sebastian platinum jubilee hall, Bendore, here on Sunday July 28 at 6.30pm.
Moras further said that Bahrain Konkani Kutam has been honoring the distinguished personalities for their extraordinary contributions to Konkani. The institution already honored 10 distinguished personalities for their contributions to promote Konkani and its distinct culture and literary service.
The award comprises Rs 50,000 cash, a memento and citation letter.
Dolla Mangalore is known for his playwright, direction, radio programmes and comedy acting. He has directed 50 dramas and acted in 300 Konkani and Tulu drama. He also directed religious plays and performed number magic shows. Even he had opportunity to play role in movies and produced audiocassette, said Moras.
Dolla Mangalore staged his plays not only in India but also in Gulf countries and enthralled Mangaloreans. He is serving as a director of Mangalore Catholic Co-operative (MCC) Bank in Mangalore, added Moras.
