Moodubelle: Computer Lab and Sound System of St. Lawrence College inaugurated

Moodubelle, 01 September 2012; On the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Parish priest of Belle and Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions on September 1, 2012, the much awaited Computer Lab of St. Lawrence Degree College was inaugurated jointly by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes and Mrs. Celestine Alva, mother of Valerian Maurice Alva Chairman of Moodubelle Charitable Trust, the chief sponsor of both these projects in the presence of Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Manager of Moodubelle Charitable Trust, Commodore Jerome Castelino, the Dean, Dr. Eugene D’Souza, Principal, the staff members and the students.
In a brief stage function in the hall, following the prayer song by the students, Commodore Jerome Castelino welcomed the guests and the Correspondent with flowers and reminded the students that on the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Rev. Fr. Joswey, the college has been blessed with the computer lab as well as the sound system and made an appeal to the students to make full use of the facilities.
Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes formally cut the birthday cake following recitation of a poem composed by Mrs. Sarita D’Souza, Vice Principal and compeer of the programme. In his message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that every human being has a purpose in his or her life. Further he said that he has been happy to serve the people especially in the field of education. He expressed happiness over the inauguration of the Computer Lab and the Sound System and thanked the donors-Mr. Valerian Maurice Alva, the chief sponsor as well as Remos D’Souza whose initial contribution encouraged to initiate the project of the Computer Lab.
Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes felicitated Mr. Melwyn D’Souza who provided computers and installed them in the Computer Lab within short period and also Mr. Shankar who provided the false ceiling and the flooring for the lab. Mrs. Celstine Alva and Mrs. Helen D’Souza on behalf of the Moodubelle Charitable Trust, offered flower bouquets to Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes to felicitate him on his birthday.

On behalf of Mr. Valerian Maurice Alva, the Chairman of the Moodubelle Charitable Trust who is presently in England managing his business, Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Manager of the Trust conveyed best wishes to the students and said that Mr. Valerian has been in the forefront in helping educational institutions. She appealed the students to make good use of the Computer Lab and study well and achieve success in their lives.
In his brief thanksgiving address, Dr. Eugene D’Souza narrated how the idea of having the Computer Lab to provide soft skills to the students along with academic education bore fruit with the initial donation of Mr. Remos D’Souza, proprietor of Phoenix Couriers in Mumbai and how the project eventually materialized with the magnanimous donations of Mr. Valerian Maurice Alva who also sponsored the sound system. Dr. Eugene D’Souza expressed gratitude to both the donors and Mrs. Celestine Alva, mother of Mr. Valerian Alva who represented him. He also thanked Mrs. Helen D’Souza, manager of Moodubelle Charitable Trust for representing the Trust for the function.
