Mumbai: New Organisation "REACH" to safegaurd Konkani Culture is inaugurated

Mumbai, 03 November 2011: A New Organisation with the name "REACH" is inaugurated today at Green Meadows, Sheetal Nagar, Mira Road. The punchline of the organisation is "Konkan Porvozanchen Daiz" and their motto is to safegurd Konkani language and culture. The special target of the organisation is to review the marriage culture and to sing vovyos during weddings and roce programmes of Konkani people.
Inaugurating the association Fr. Dominic Vas, the parish priest of Mira Road Church said that "It was a glorious moment to witness our wedding ceremonies in the past. There was beauty and happiness in marriage ceremonies. Prime importance was given for the family life. But in todays busy life the marriage cultures are getting wiped out. The organisation "REACH" has taken right step to preserve these cultures."
The programme started in a traditional manner by offering pan-podd-udok to the guests. Fr. Dominic, Lawrence Castelino, Harryboy, Molly Lobo and Ligory Lobo inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Fr. Dominic and the other guests inaugurated the organisation by unveiling the curtain on the association banner.
Entertainment programme was held by singing Vovyos and other Konkani songs.
President Austin Menezes, Vice Presidents Merlyn D’Sa and Helen DSouza, Secretary Jonita Kutto, Joint Secretary Michael Fernandes, Treasurer Francis DSouza, Joint Treasurer Ronnie DSouza, Gurkar Meena DSouza and the committee members Hilda Serrao, Clara DSouza, Veera DSouza, Dulcine Corda, Jacinta D’Silva and Severine Pinto were present at the occasion.
Michael Fernandes beautifully compered the programme. Meenga D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.

It is said Old is Gold. Here all the old and rural cultural values and Fr.Vaz has also recalled the old traditional celebrations of Marriage functions and so on.. a very nice programme for the benefit of the younger generation to keep alive the Konkani culture and ussages and traditions.Thanks to Ancy Paladka for his effective coverage. |
