Mangalore: Cong Veteran Ramanath Rai & MLA J R Lobo woo auto drivers around city

Mangalore, 14 Apr 2014: A unique campaign was held by Dakshina Kannada (DK)district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo here on Saturday April 12.

 

Both minister Ramanath and MLA Lobo along with other leaders of the party visited various auto rickshaw stands and urged the drivers to vote for Congress Lok Sabha candidate Janardhan Poojary. What made the campaign unique was that the leaders, including Ramanath Rai, rode around in auto rickshaws.

 

This special style of canvassing was flagged-off by minister Ramanath at the RTO auto stand.

 

 

Addressing the media, minister Ramanath said Janardhan Poojary has a lot of concern towards the poor and the working class. ‘Poojary earlier had a dream of making auto drivers the owners too by financially supporting them through various schemes. He also had plans of providing 90 percent of loan subsidies for purchasing autos,’ said minister Ramnath.

 

The local Congress leaders Santosh Shetty, T K Sudhir, Stany Alvares, Nazir Bajal, D M Aslam, Lawrence and others were present.

 

Meantine at Bajal, block congress  youth president Meryl Rego and corporator Praveenchandra Alva along with youth congress leader Nelson Monteiro campainged for congress LS candidate Janardhan Poojary.
