M’lore: Curtains Drawn on Media Manthan – 14; St Xavier’s College, Goa Champions at Student Fe

Mangalore,23 Feb 2014:  MLA J R Lobo was the chief guest the two-day media fete - Media Manthan-14 on the theme, ‘Advent: Unleash your creativity’ organized by the department of mass communication, St Aloysius College came to a spectacular end with the valedictory function held at the Eric Mathias Hall here on Saturday February 22 evening.
 
 
Speaking at the function, MLA J R Lobo said, ‘Media has greater responsibility on its shoulder. It must uphold the values of democracy.’

Another guest on the dais, Badekkila Pradeep said, the media industry is getting excellent youngsters who can make difference. He advised the students to reach the goal with hard work and dedication.

 

 
Badekkila Pradeep inaugurated the Ad Film exhibition which displays over 500 advertisements and photographs. The exhibition is open to public on Sunday which is being held in the college auditorium.

 
Valedictory ceremony was followed by stunning dance performance by the India’s Got Talent (IGT) Finalist Jishnu S Menon and variety entertainment by MCMS students, St Aloysius College. Different competitions like Ad shah (Quest for the best advertiser), AdHika Prasanga (The Mad Ads competition), Ads Dekhe Zara (The ad making competition), AdRustam (The photography competition), AdDress (The Fancy Competition), AdWise (The Quiz Competition) and Adventure (The Treasure Hunt), workshops on advertising avenues, advertising communication and photography were also conducted on the final day of the Media Fiesta.

 
St Xavier’s College, Goa won the overall championship of Media Manthan 2014 whereas runner up trophy was bagged by SDM College.

 
Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal of St Aloysius College, Fr Francis Almeida SJ, vice principal, Prashanth Rasquina of Property Deal Marketing, Vishal Nayak, head of department of mass communication, Laxmi Shenoy, staff convener and Sudeep Shenoy, student co-ordinator,  were also present on the occasion.
