Abu Dhabi: Dynamic Community Leader Valerian D’Almeida is the new President of KCO

Abu Dhabi, 30 Nov 2013: A dynamic community leader Valerian D’Almeida has been elected as the new president of Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO) – the premier Konkani organization of Abu Dhabi for the year 2013 – 2014, during its Annual General Body Meeting held on Friday November 29, 2013 and Leena DSouza and Praveen Serrao were elected as general secretary and treasurer respectively.

 

Valerian D”Almeida, a B.com graduate from Mysore University, a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a Certified Support Manager from California, USA is working as Group Head of Support Services with Al Ain Holding LLC, Abu Dhabi.

 

Valerian is a popular community leader, a good organizer, speaker, and a social worker. His contribution towards Abu Dhabi’s Konkani community is immense. He has been a dedicated worker, his leadership qualities, experience and charisma will surely help heighten KCO’s popularity and meet its challenging social commitments in the coming years.

He has been a member of KCO since many years and has held various posts in the organization and proved his ability as a good leader. He has the experience of leading Abu Dhabi’s Konkani Prayer Group for two years very effectively. With his dynamic and pleasing personality he is sure to capture the hearts of Mangaloreans in Abu Dhabi.  He is the member of Abu Dhabi Chapter of The Institute of Chartered accountants of India, Advisor to the Emirates Suratkal Parishoners Association (ESPA), Bare Foot Counselor(BFC) from St. Joseph’s Cathedral Abu Dhabi, Patron of Daivik Amrith, a monthly magazine from the Diocese of Mangalore and associate of www.konkanibible.org

 

Leena D’Souza a newly elected General Secretary, is an Educationist, B.A, B. Ed. Post graduate, working with Abu Dhabi Indian School for the past 23 years and currently a trainee at Abu Dhabi Educational Council for Special Education needs.  She is the founder member of KCO and twice served as general secretary and twice as Sports Secretary in the past.  Praveen Serrao the new treasurer, a B.com graduate from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and an MBA from Washington University, working with a well known company in Abu Dhabi as Asst. Finance Manager is a young, enthusiastic and active member of KCO for the past several years.  Both Leena and Praveen have proven their abilities within KCO and will be supporting Valerian in strengthening KCO and its activities.

 

The other office bearers were selected by the new executive body are: Vice President - Inez D’Cunha, Asst.Secretary - Claudia Lobo, Entertainment Secretary - Benette D’Mello, Sports Secretary - Vivek Serrao, Public Relations & Media Coordinator - Canute Pinto, Hon.Auditor - Franklin D Cunha, Advisors - Leo Rodrigues, Dolphy Vas and Michael D’Silva.

 

KCO has been growing in popularity year after year and has become a household name both in the UAE as well as in India for their benevolent work in helping the needy and deserving students. They have initiated several scholarships for needy students through Samanvaya of Mangalore and have donated several lakhs through their charitable work in the past. They are involved in various social, cultural and religious activities in Abu Dhabi.

 

KCO recently distributed scholarships worth Rs 12 lakhs for nearly 171 deserving students.  KCO has managed to garner funds through their entertainment events with the help of their benefactors and sponsors to meet their social and community commitments.

 

Outgoing president Bennett D’Mello thanked the members of KCO for their unstinting support and urged them continue the same tempo towards the new office bearers and their associates.

 

KCO is known for their excellent organizational capabilities and have veterans in this field and committed members who have the experience and caliber to show case any event both religious and cultural.
