Karkal: Independence Day Celebrated at Belman

Karkal, 16 August, 2013 : At the joint aegis of St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, High School and English Medium School, sixty-seventh Independence Day celebrations were held at Belman, near here on Thursday August 15.

 

 

Belman – St Joseph’s parish priest and correspondent of school, Fr Lawrence B D’Souza hoisted the national flag and delivered Independence Day message on the occasion.

 

Fr Henry Mascarenhas, Belman parish council vice president and Alumni Association honorary president Gregory Menezes were the chief guests of the occasion.

 

A colorful march-fast and mass saluting of tri-color flag by the students was held on the occasion.

 

St Joseph’s High School head teacher Renilda Pereira, St Joseph’s Higher Primary School head teacher Sr Monica Monteiro was present on the dais.

 

The convent superior Sr Usha Stella, St Joseph’s English Medium School head teacher Janet D’Souza were also present.

 

The prizes were distributed to the winners of various sports competitions.

 

The patriotic singing programme was held on the occasion.

 

Sachin Salian welcomed the gathering.  Melanie D’Mello spoke during the programme.  Riyona Joyce D’Souza compered the programme.  The teacher B Pundalika Marate proposed vote of thanks.
