Mumbai: Let Rangastala becomes Platform for Linguistic Harmony; Arun Mahatre

Mumbai, 8 Aug 2013: The poetry and dramas are the effective media to help the humanity to grow with cultural bliss.  It signifies the both joys and agonies of life.  Nonetheless, it has energized the talent of humanity form time immemorial.  Let us not forget that it has the contribution of many languages.  If my mother is from Karnataka and father from Maharashtra and you say I don’t know Kannada that is ridiculous. Similarly, despite Bheem Sena Joshi was born in Karnataka, he has great fans in Maharashtra among the musicians.  Kannada veteran litterateurs Bendre, Bairappa and others have many followers in Maharashtra.  Kannadigas have the credit of engaged in the construction of several old buildings that are located from Fort up till Malabar Hill in Mumbai, said renowned Marathi poet and theater artiste Arun Mahatre.

Arun Mahatre was speaking after inaugurating first year’s programme of Rangastala – theater training centre at Karnataka Sangh, Goregaon, here at their office.

 

Arun further said that it was decided to organize Marathi – Kannada Kavyotsav  at Karnataka Sangh, Goregaon.  It’s the history for organizing eleven-day Kavyotsav in joint auspicious of Karnataka Sangh, Mumbai.  I have great regard for Karnataka Sangh, Goregaon, said Arun.  He appealed to the gathering, at least to organize one-day theater camp with the assistance of Kishore Kadam this year.  Let Rangastala become the stage to display linguistic harmony, appealed Arun.

Kannada – Tulu theater artiste Juliet Pereira who jointly inaugurated this year’s programme of Rangastala, she said that Rangastala has its own history.  The renowned stage artiste Sadanand Suvarna was its first director.  She was fortunate to inaugurate this year’s programme.  Tulu play – Bayyamallige had given her break in theater for her success in over one thousand plays in Kannada, Tulu and Hindi in the past over 3 decades, said Juliet.

Juliet was emotional in acknowledging the key role of comedian Ramesh Karkera who passed away recently.  She also acknowledged the support of different theater groups in her endeavor.

 Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Sangh, Goregaon president Payyar Ramesh Shetty said that Rangastala has planned superb programmes at the leadership of young poet and actor Petri Vishwanat Shetty who is supported by 2 conveners and 12 members. 
Petri Vishwanat in his presidential address said that he trusts this year’s programme of Rangastala that was jointly inaugurated by Arun Mahatre who has the credit of organizing poetry session in thousands of villages and Juliet who is the veteran actor of acting in over thousand drama, said Vishwanat.  He also sought the help of everyone for the success of programme. 

Susheela Devadiga and Sumangala Shetty rendered prayers in Kannada.  Vasudha Nayak, Seema Nayak and Bharati Nayak rendered prayers in Marathi, which was highlight of the programme.

Rangastala, convener Laxmi Anchan welcomed the gathering.  The author Ravi Anchan and Gruntayana director Shakuntala Prabhu introduced the dignitaries.  D V Dambal and Smita Patkar presented the bouquets.  Rangastala, another convener Smita compered the programme, while Suma Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
