Udupi: Friends build a house for a friend in need

Moodubelle, 05 Jul 2013: Friendship is a divine gift. Lot many things can be achieved if you have good friends behind you, to support you. They say, “Friend in need is a friend indeed.” A similar divine work has taken place at a place called Padubelle, a small village in Udupi taluk, in the jurisdiction of Belle Grama Panchayat.

 

A poor youngster, a coolie worker, was staying in an unhygienic hut along with his old ailing father. A born actor, who very actively involved himself in all the village activities, Mr Vasanth Poojary always saw to it that everyone wore a smile on his face through his witty jokes. So his friends, Mr. Ramous D’Souza, Mumbai, Valerian Alva, Dubai, Dinesh Shetty, Mumbai, Vincent Alva, Harish Shetty and many others decided a house to be built for their friend-Mr. Vasanth Poojary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Under the leadership of Prof. Vincent Alva and Mr. Harish Shetty, Member of Belle Grama Panchayath, the task was initiated and the house at an estimated cost of Rs. 4 lakh is all set to be handed over to Mr. Vasanth Poojary. Friends like Clement Alva, Ashok Alva, Lawrence Alva, Roshan Alva, Atul Shetty, Louis Alva, Prakash Noronha, Victor Menezes, Dayanand Shetty, Raghu Palan, Jagannath Poojary, and many others have joined hands in this philanthropic task. Mr. Vishwanath Shetty, an approved electrician, shouldered the expenses of electrifying the house.

 

The function of inauguration of the newly built house was held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 11am.  Harish Shetty, member of the Belle Grama Panchayat presided over the function. Navinchandra Shetty, president of the Congress, Kaup Block inaugurated the house. The function was attended by Navin Shetty-president of the Youth Congress, Kaup Block, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-memebr of the Zilla Panchayat, A.G. D’Souza and Shivram Salian, members of the Belle Grama Panchayat. Richard Danti compeered the programme and welcomed the guests. All those who had provided financial help in building this house were felicitated by offering them flowers.

 

All the friends are extremely happy for a rare opportunity they got to help their friend in need with a house.
