Udupi: Choornotsv, Vedic Rites Performed at Sri Krishna Mutt

Udupi, 15 Jan 2013: Choornotsav, Vedic celebration was held with great devotion at Sri Krishna mutt, here on Tuesday January 15.
Vishwavallabateerta of Vadiraj mutt, performed religious celebrations on Brahma Rath that was offered during Makara Sankramana – Monday January 14.
It’s customary that Ratotsav is being held at Sri Krishna mutt during night on Makara Sankranti, while this year the celebrations were held even during day on Tuesday January 15.
After offering puja, Swami Vallabateerta distributed prasadams to the devotees along with bits of sandalwood, hence the name for celebration – Choornotsav.Swami Vishwavallabateerta seated at the decorated Brahma Rath along with Lord Krishna’s idol here on Tuesday January 15 at 9.15am.
The thousands of devotees showered snacks, plantains, coconuts, bakery items on Brahma Raththat was pulled by other devotees. The traditional music added flavor to the celebration.Swami Vishveshateerta, Swami Vishvaprasannateerta, Swami Vidhyasagarteerta and Swami Vidhyadeeshateerta were present on the occasion.
