M’lore: IT-SEZ space to get Brigade group boost at Ganjimath
Mangalore, 03 Nov 2012: Bangalore based Brigade group that launched its first luxury residential project - Brigade Pinnacle at Derebail here on Saturday is making a major foray into building IT office space at Ganjimath. The company which has drawn plans to set up 2.5 million square feet of IT office space at the exclusive IT-SEZ coming up at Ganjimath enroute Moodbidri and make a start by constructing 3 lakh square feet with work starting in January 2013.
M R Jaishankar, chairman and managing director of the group interacting with reporters said the company has been allocated 25 acres of space in the IT-SEZ with a 1-km road frontage. "IT sector in this tier-II city is yet to realise its potential but for the almost singular presence of Infosys," he said adding that relative closeness to the Mangalore international airport will make the IT office space that the group intends to put attractive to IT majors.
"We are in talks with IT majors as regards this project," he said not disclosing their names for business reasons, but going on to add that the project will include seven buildings and one infrastructure support building for the need of employees who will work there. "If anyone wants the entire or major portion of the 2.5 million square feet, the group is ready to deliver the same to the client in the scheduled time frame of 24-months," Jaishankar said.
Referring to Brigade Pinnacle, Jaishankar said this marks group’s entry into niche residential segment. "We do not have any immediate plan to venture into office or retail space in the city as of now," he said adding that the group will also come up with a project that provides value homes for people of this coastal city. The group will have a permanent office in the city to deal with its customers and also liaison with them through its overseas offices as well.
