Easter Vigil and Celebrations at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 09 April 2012:  In one of the most organized and systematic manner the whole night vigil on the eve of Easter.  The vigil began in total darkness and then Bishop HE Paul Hinder blessed lit the Easter Candle and various prayers were recited.  The candle light was passed on to all congregations while going on procession to the beautifully decorated Main Alter.  He was accompanied by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Savarimutthu and all the priests of the Parish.  Fr. Valerian Fernandes who is newly transferred from Mangalore too was the co-celebrant at the mass.

 

 

As per the tradition all the seven readings were read starting from 1st departure of Isralites from Egypt to the Promised Land.  The Easter Litany was beautifully recited by Rupert Vaz one of the prominent leader of Konkani Prayer Group.

 

In his Homily bishop explained the significance of Easter and continue their mission in the new hope and new spirit of the risen Lord.  A few new converts were baptized during the ceremony.  Church English Choir led by John Fernandes rendered wonderful hymns supported by Jenchris Miranda & Yashlyn Fernandes and Violet by Fiona D’Souza.  The communion was distributed by at 30 points by priests and communion ministers.
