Mangaluru: VOBD to donate water cooler @ Kudroli to mark 4th anniversary

Mangaluru, 25 Aug 2021: The Voice of Blood Donors® to donate a water cooler that will be installed at auto park, Kudroli, here on Monday, August 30 to mark their 4th anniversary, said Voice of Blood Donors (VOBD) honorary advisor Hussein Katipalla.

 

VOBD co-founder Farhan Sadat sponsored the water cooler that is meant for the general public.

 

Addressing media persons at VOBD office, here on Wednesday, August 25, Hussein also said, ‘VOBD had collected over 5,000 units of blood since its inception that was donated to Indian Red Cross Society, Mangaluru, and other premier hospitals in the city.  It’s a record of a sort to reach this milestone that was acknowledged by Lions Club International (LCI) by awarding them Lions Club Mangalore Centurion. It’s significant that during Covid-19 pandemic outbreak from March 24, 2020 to till date, VOBD donated nearly 650 units of blood that was requisitioned by KMC Hospital and other leading private hospitals to meet acute shortage. The band of youngsters are on call ready to contribute their blood at any time,’ said Hussein.

 

 

‘VOBD have also helped poor girls by donating wedding saris, paying medical bills of poor patients regardless of faith and castes, donating rations to poor families during Ramadan and during Covid-19 lockdowns, donating clothes to orphanages, and other humanitarian deeds that are led by none other than enterprising youth VOBD founder Abdul Rauf Bunder,’ added Hussein.

 

VOBD general secretary advocate Rubiya Akthar announced that women wing of VOBD will be launched in city on September 26, 2021. It’s an initiative towards women empowerment to involve more women for the noble cause to mark 4th anniversary celebration.

 

Ahmed Labbai Khalifa, Muttupet, Tamil Nadu will grace the occasion along with local corporator Shamsuddin, former corporator Abdul Aziz and others, added Rubiya.

 

VOBD founder Abdul Rauf Bunder said a mega blood camp will be held in association with IMI and KMD at Bunder locality on September 24, 2021, on the occasion of 4th anniversary.

 

VOBD president Mohammed Thouheed, joint secretary Alisha, Taj Group chairman Sadiq, Mohammed Nazeer and others were present.
