Puttur: AGM & Annual Day Celebration at St Philomena College

Puttur, 03 Mar 2015: St Philomena College, here held annual general body meeting of Alumni Association and Alumni Day Celebration at College campus here recently.
Dr Sukumar Gowda of Makkala Mantapa, here was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gowda said, ‘Present day education gives only an identity card of education but there is no substance in what is learnt.’ He further said, ‘Honesty, determination and hard work are the key to success.’ He concluded by saying that a person should not only have job satisfaction but also work satisfaction.
Fr Alfred J Pinto in his presidential address said, ‘Students should learn to respect teachers, parents, school and nation only then he will evolve as a good citizen.” He was deeply impressed by the work done by the Alumni Association and requested them to continue the same in the years to come.’
As a tradition every year 2 achievers among the old students of the college were will be felicitated. Accordingly Dr Gowda and K R Shenoy of K V Shenoy Group, here were felicitated for their achievements in the respective field.
Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairman of PG Studies, Professor Leo Noronha, Principal of the College, Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of St Philomena PU College, Bharath Kumar A, secretary of Alumni Association was also present.
JayaKumar Rai, president of Alumni Association welcomed the gathering. Shakuntala, joint secretary of Alumni Association proposed the vote of thanks. Suresh Shetty and Prathima Hegde compered the programme.
