Bangalore, 06 February 2011: Contrary to the Opposition charade about his ’’ill gotten’’ wealth making him worth Rs 1,000 crore, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has declared his assets that are worth only a few crores of rupees.

Though he does not put a value to his immovable properties in his declaration, there is not much difference between Yeddyurappa’s latest declaration and the one he filed before the Central Election Commission in 2008.

Yeddyurappa, in his letter to Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Gadkari, has listed his properties and added that neither he nor his children have bank accounts in Swiss Banks or any other country’s tax haven bank accounts.

Party senior leader L K Advani has asked BJP chief ministers to declare their assets. Yeddyurappa is facing court cases regarding land scams.

The Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress have been targeting him by charging that he has bent all rules to denotify public lands in Bangalore and other places, to favour his family members.

His declaration, as on January 31, 2011, does not include properties owned by his children. Since he became Chief Minister in May 2008, quantity of gold and silver he possessed has gone up considerably.

He does not cite the value of immovable property he owns. Yeddyurappa does not seem to believe in raising loans. He has no liabilities, at least on record, which he has submitted to Gadkari.

Yeddyurappa has valued his total assets in his affidavit submitted along with nomination papers during 2008 Assembly elections at Rs 1.82 crore. Whereas, in his latest affidavit he has avoided evaluating his assets. He has only listed properties and details of his bank accounts.

The chief minister has said his daughters B Y Padmavathi, B Y Arunadevi and B Y Umadevi are all independent and his two sons B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijayendra have been independent income tax assessees since 2004. Yeddyurappa owns a total of 18.23 acres of land in Shikaripur taluk. He has not purchased agriculture land in the taluk since he became the chief minister.

He has two houses and three sites. He owns an independent house built on 50X80ft site in RMV II stage. The plot was allotted to Yeddyurappa in May 1997 and the construction of the house was completed in Feb 1999. He owns another house in Shikaripura.

He got ownership of the house as legal heir of his wife, the late Mythradevi. He possessed 9.12 acres of agriculture land in 2007. But later he got it converted for industrial purposes.

As per his affidavit filed before the Central Election Commission in 2008, Yeddyurappa possessed 1.6 kg of gold and 25 kg of silver. Whereas in his latest declaration, the quanity of gold has gone up to 2.5 kg and silver up to 76 kg.

The chief minister has seven savings bank accounts in different banks and the total cash in the accounts is Rs 33.43 lakh. In his salary account in Apex Bank, Vidhana Soudha branch, Yeddyurappa has Rs 17.92 lakhs.
