Mangalore: Delegation Led By P V Mohan, Denis D’Silva meet DRM, Southern Railway

Mangalore, 06 November 2010: A delegation led by P V Mohan, convenor, Mangalore Railway Development Action Committee and member AICC and Denis DSilva, member of Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee, Palghat division met S K Raina, divisional railway manager, Palghat division and submitted a memorandum on various issues concerning railway services of Coastal Karnataka.

 

The long-pending issues like construction of railway under bridge at Bajal-Padil Railway crossing and Road Over-Bridge at Mahakali Padpu Railway Level Crossing were discussed in detail. The delegation insisted upon the road widening work between Nagori to Kankanady Railway Station on priority basis and DRM agreed to have a visit to the spot during his visit to the city.

 

 

 

Also he accepted the request of the delegation to have an interaction meeting with different NGO representatives in Mangalore. Delegatnion communicated to the DRM that Mangaloreans are feelings ignored and neglected by Railways in extending developmental projects here. The issues relating to upgradation of Mangalore Railway Station to World Class and also use of Kannada as compulsory communication language in Mangalore Station by Railway Staff was also discussed.

 

The DRM assured to conduct Kannada communication classes for those Railway staff at Mangalore. The delegation demanded the extention of Cannanore-Yashwanthpur Express No 6527/6528 presently running from Kannur via Palghat to Bangalore.

 

Roshan Castelino, vice-president of MRPL Employees Union, Nyzil Noronha, president, Chaitanya Foundation, Vinod Lasrado of Sparsha Social Service Centre were in the delegation.
