Udupi: Minister Sorake lays foundation for fishmongers Market at Shirva

Udupi, 03 Aug 2014: Shirva gram panchayat will be upgraded to town panchayat at the earliest on the long-pending demands of local populace.  The development works that are being undertaken qualifies for upgrading Shirva gram panchayat to Shirva town panchayat, said the state urban development and Udupi district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

 

The minister Sorake was speaking after laying the foundation for fishmongers’ market complex at Shirva, near here on Saturday August 2 evening.  It will be built @ Rs 81.25 lac at the leadership of Coastal Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with National Fisheries Development Board – Hyderabad and Karnataka state government.

 

 

Shirva gram panchayat president Hassanabba Shaikh presided the programme.

 

Shirva – Vishnumurti temple priest Srinivas Bhat performed the Vedic rites related to ground breaking ceremony.

 

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district fisheries marketing Federation president Yashpal Suvarna, ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza, TP member Krishna Poojary, Shirva gram panchayat vice president Deepika Charlotte, CDA secretary P A Ganapati, Udupi district Nirmiti Kendra project director Arun Kumar, fisheries department assistant director Anjana Devi, Dileep Kumar, fishmongers’ leader Bhavani were the chief guests present.

 

P A Ganapati welcomed the gathering.  Shirva gram panchayat development officer Sundar Prabhu proposed vote of thanks.  Shirva gram panchayat member K R Patkar compered the programme.
