Three killed, 15 injured in jeep-tanker collision

 

Mangalore, 02 Jun 2014: Three persons died and 15 others were injured in an accident involving a jeep and a tanker at Shirady along the Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway on Monday. While the jeep was on its way to Udupi from Kukke Subrahmanya, the tanker was headed towards Bangalore. Superintendent of Police Sharanappa SD gave the names of victims as Thippesh, 28, driver of the jeep, Shwetha, 26, and Ganesh, 1-1/2.

 

The injured, most of them children, have been admitted to various hospitals in the city, and are undergoing treatment. Police said they are part of a family from Davangere that was on a trip to holy places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Police with help from locals cleared the NH that was blocked as a result of the accident.A case has been registered in Puttur traffic police station in this regard and police are investigating.
