Bangalore, 26 Oct 2012: Former Union Minister Dhananjay Kumar, who was expelled from the BJP on charges of anti-party activities, officially joined as a member of the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) in Bangalore on Thursday.

Kumar, a close aide of B S Yeddyurappa, is expected to be elevated to a top post in the KJP, a position he will hold till December 10 when the former chief minister will officially take charge as the president of the party.

Yeddyurappa has already announced that he would be quitting the BJP and launching his new party at a huge rally on that day in Haveri.

Party registered

Yeddyurappa is keen that he fight the Assembly polls under the KJP banner, a party which has been registered with the Election Commission of India by its present president Padmanabha Prasanna Kumar.

Dhananjay Kumar said that the KJP would be holding its general council meeting in Bangalore on November 9, where a new set of office-bearers would be appointed.
