Duty free shop opens at Mangalore port

Mangalore, 20 Oct 2012: India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Limited, the public sector undertaking under the aegis of ministry of tourism, launched a new duty free shop at Mangalore Seaport on Friday.

 

With the opening of a duty free shop at Mangalore port, the total number of seaport outlets of ITDC touched five in the country. The outlet here is located inside the cruise passenger lounge at Mangalore port. The shop is aligned with ITDC’s aim to provide shoppers with an incredible shopping experience, said New Mangalore Port Trust chairman P Tamilvana, who inaugurated the outlet.

 

"The shop will have the world’s best known spirits, wines, top selling brands of cigarettes, tobacco and excellent arrays of Indian products like tribal handicrafts as well as a wide assortment of Teas at the most competitive price," sources in the ITDC told.

 

ITDC is the pioneer of duty free shopping in India and is one of the first duty free operators to have realized the importance and potential of duty free business at seaports in the country. In sync with the changing times, the corporation has changed its business focus from operating duty free shops and the Internatinal Airports to the country’s ports.
