Bangalore airport on high alert after IB tip-off

New Delhi, 01, June 2011: Bangalore airport has been put on high alert after a tip-off by the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Security has also been tightened at the Chennai airport after officials at the Bangalore airport received a mysterious call on Tuesday night warning of a threat to a Bangalore-Chennai flight.
All Bangalore-Chennai flights being checked but no flights have been delayed.
The CISF has also formed a bomb squad to check all flights taking off from Bangalore.
The Bangalore airport authorities have asked passengers to report ahead of their scheduled time.
In a statement it said, "Bengaluru International airport, in coordination with CISF and state police, has put in place enhanced security arrangements in view of the threat message received for the airport. Passengers are requested to factor in additional time for security measures."
An alert was also sounded at both the domestic and international airports in Chennai.
Sources at the airport said that the CISF, which provides the security cover, has been alerted following the bomb threat call.
