Kuwait: The Punch Line Comedy Show punched the audience

Kuwait, 14 Oct 2012: The Pearl tent at the Safir International Hotel was packed to full to witness the event, The Punch Line a stand-up comedy show organized by M3 Event Management Company. The front rows were occupied by the who’s who in the diplomatic world in Kuwait. The chief guest of the evening was the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, H.E. Mr. Satish Mehta. In his introductory he said that in this time of economic recession such events will refresh us and rejuvenate us with fresh energy and added that making others laugh is not an easy task and he welcomed the gathering to the laughable evening.


There was a galaxy of His Excellences present;
Ambassador of Bangladesh; Ambassador of China; Ambassador of France; Ambassador of Malawi; Ambassador of Mexico; Ambassador of Peru; Ambassador of Spain; Ambassador of Turkey; Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Ambassador of Cuba; Head of the Mission of Republic of Central Africa; Ambassador of Romania; Ambassador of Indonesia; Ambassador of Kingdom of Bhutan; Ambassador of Armenia; Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic (Greece). and representative from American Embassy. The show was also graced upon by two prominent members of the ruling family in Kuwait, the Al-Sabah family. There was a brief roundup by H.E. Mr. Satish Mehta on Incredible India followed by a fantastic short documentary film capturing the scenic beauty of India and its heritage sites.


The eagerly awaited show began by the playing of the national anthems of the two friendly countries Kuwait and India. A brief ceremony was then held to honor the prominent and selfless social worker Mr. Juzzer Ali Hussain and also the President of Indian Cultural Society the eloquent and funny boned Master of ceremonies Mr. Ashfaque Khan by H.E. Mr. Satish Mehta. The sponsors who have whole heartedly sponsored the event were also felicitated. The sponsors were: Mr. Salim Cyclewala from Alphabetical Printing press for assisting us with all the Printing & Marketing Materials; Mr. Deepak Jolly from Winners Restaurant; Mr. Paresh Muthreja from Good luck Textile; Mr. Nezar from “4 Sale”; Mr. Zakir Anwer from Anwerco; Mr. Jaleel Khaled from Jet Airways. Mr. Venkatesh Chowdry from Avanti Palace Restaurant; Mr. Rocky from Camco Global; Indians in Kuwait web portal; Mr. AsifJuzer from Prosports; Mr. Vikas Oberoi from Al Zahem Al Malhotra; U3 Corporation; Camille Bacha and last but not least the Executive team of Indian Cultural Society who have worked day & night shoulder with shoulder and hand in hand with M3 Event management company to make this event a huge success

 

 


The show began with a grand and dazzling entry of The King of U.A.E Comedy .Nitin Mirani who walked onto stage to a massive applause .From the start itself his punch lines were well received and showed the showman’s caliber of wit. Being the contrasting meaning of his name Nitin in the languages of Sanskrit (The man who leads to the right path) and in Arabic (meaning bad smelling) to how arabs answer phone calls which sent the audience into raptures of laughter. His conversations with his dad and showing humor in hospitals mentioning the fact that his mum recently had a heart attack and was actually in the hospital showed the showman’s tremendous ability to connect with the audience with ease. Being the host he warmed the crowd up for the first act who was  The Dubai based Egyptian funny lady Lamya Tawfik started entered the stage with her head scarf on and with usual bubbling style almost running on to the stage as of somebody was chasing her. Her opening statement, “There are so many Ambassadors sitting here and so I better be diplomatic” was well received by the audience. She went on with her usual characteristic style of cracking jokes on different cultures and people. Her enacting of how women drivers use the rear viewing mirror for their make-up was par excellence.


Upon his 2nd entry Nitin came onstage to a Thunderous applause and got right into it with one punch line after the other making the audience leaving his audience in stitches with his jokes on Sindhi’s as well as the way different nationalities behave at different times specially the way the Russians and Lebanese speak he got the audience to the right level of energy before he brought on stage the next act who was
Imran Al Aradi the popular resident jockey on the Radio Bahrain 96.5FM came on to the stage amidst a roaring applause from the audience. From mentioning a real life prank that Nitin played on him at the airport to picking on happily married couples in the audience he actually made many members of the audience fall off their seats with laughter. The highlight was his command over languages and his observations of the differences and similarities between different nationalities.
Nitin came on to introduce the last act of the evening and started his act with a brilliant display of improve comedy which included him talking to the Australian guests as well as making the members of the royal family actually laugh out loud hence making it contagious and impossible to not marvel at his sharp wit and quick thinking..He then introduced

 

Maheep Singh of India who entered the stage so calmly and his stance instantly made the audience laugh The audience loved him from the start and he continued to entertain them with his "List Of Not To Say Words " along with his Hilarious jokes on shaving products and why women love sardarjis as they can not only buy hair products together but also try the various hair products on. The highlight was his joke about him being born into this world only so women could look at him and say "No Thank You" which made the audiences hold their stomachs and many were seen wiping of the tears due to laughter.


The evening ended with the Laughter Therapist Nitin Mirani who did the closing in his own unique style which included him talking about the nuances’ of Cricket players and relationships making the audience unite in a chorus of laughter .He also called upon a few guests on stage for a joke off and gave the audience a glimpse of his talent of impersonations by serenading one of the guests in the style of SHARUKH KHAN making the ladies cheer for this charming comic.


The show ended after a 2 hour laughathon and the audience was seen leaving the venue massaging their jaws and saying "They did make us laugh till it hurt"
