Bangalore: Rural Social Service Program by KCA Mathikere

Bangalore, 12 Oct 2012: Konkan  Catholic Association, Mathikere conducted a free Children’s health camp at a remote village called Amalagondi  in Sira Taluk, Tumkur District, which is situated about 105 KMs from Bangalore,  on 7th October 2012, in association with the Amala Kutumba Abivrudhi Yojane (AKAY) Amalagondi, Sira, Tumkur.

 

The Institution AKAY is run by Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) nuns since 32 years.  The sisters serve people of 16 villages surrounding Amaladundi through their Social Network Program.

 

The health camp was specially arranged for children aged 5 years and below. Totally 330 children coming from 16 villages availed the benefit of this camp.

 

A team of Doctors from St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore namely Sr. (Dr.) Judith, Sr. (Dr.) Rincy, Sr. (Dr.) Catharine & Dr. Deiveegan participated in the Health Camp and examined the children.

 

 

Konkan  Catholic Association, Mathikere, Bangalore sponsored the camp by taking  the four doctors from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, providing free medicines and meeting other expenses.

 

The camp was inaugurated by the KCA President Mr. Naveen R D’Souza.  KCA member Robinson D’Souza, Sr. Agnes D’Souza & Sr. Shanta from Amala Kutumba Abivrudhi Yojane participated in the program. They stressed the importance of the child health during the inauguration speech.  Several KCA Committee members, including Anil Rego, Sunil Rego, Gerald D’Souza and Anita Rego took active part as volunteers.

 

The health camp was an unique and different experience to share the love and concern with poorest of the poor, needy, sufferers and under privileged brethren of the society.  The children were brought to the camp in bullock carts, rickshaws and tractors under the guidance and supervision of Sr. Agnes and Sr. Shantha.  Even the transport expenses of the children from their homes in remote villages to the camp were met by AKAY.
