Moodubelle: NSS Day observed in St. Lawrence PU College

Moodubelle, 22 Sept 2012: NSS Day was celebrated in St. Lawrence PU College on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 am in the College Hall. The programme was presided over by Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of the PU College. Shri Sindha SS, Deputy Director of PU Education Department, Udupi Zone was the chief guest. Along with them Mr. Larsen Edward D’Souza, NSS Programme Officer and Sudarshan –Student NSS Leader were on the dais.
Fr. Lancy Saldanha, Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, Dr. Eugene D’Souza, Principal of St. Lawrence Degree College, Mrs. Helen D’Souza, Mrs. Hildas Aranha, Senior Teacher of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and President of Teachers-Parents Association were also present for the programme.
The programme began with prayer song sung by the NSS students. Mr. Kamlakar, PU lecturer welcomed the guests and students. Mr. Naveen Correa another PU lecturer gave introductory remarks. Mr. Larsen Edward D’Souza introduced the chief guest, Shri Sindha SS following which Fr. Paul Sequeira felicitated him by offering him shawl and flower garland.
In his address, Shri Sindha appreciated the work being done by the NSS Unit of St. Lawrence PU College and also appealed the students to perform well in the examination and develop personality and patriotism. He complimented Fr. Paul, Mr. Larsen Edward and NSS volunteers for their good work.
In his presidential message, Fr. Paul Sequeira pointed out that since the inception of the NSS Unit in the college since 8 years there has been a lot of development in terms of discipline among the students and their personality. He thanked Shri Sindha for giving support and encouragement to the college in various fields including NSS activities.
Mr. Shanbagh, lecturer of PUC proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Chandrakala another lecturer compeered the stage programme.
Following the stage programme, the NSS volunteers presented variety entertainment programme including group songs, dances and skits. The variety entertainment programme was anchored by two NSS volunteers-Shwetha and Vinaya.
