M’lore: Muhurat of Konkani play Zana Saglo Gaaun held in city

Mangalore, 26 Aug 2014: The muhurat of ’Zana Saglo Gaaun’ Konkani drama by playwright Joker Cascia was held at Don Bosco Hall, here on Monday August 25. The play will be staged during the seventy-first anniversary celebration of Konkani Natak Sabha® at Don Bosco Hall, on Sunday October 5 at 5.30pm.
Dubai-based M/s Merit Freight Systems Co LLC managing director Joseph Mathias, Sangeeth Saurab Stany Mendonca, Konkani activist Ancy Paladka were the chief guests.
Joseph Mathias presented the script to director Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla, Manglur). Dolls briefed about the roles of different artistes.
Konkani Natak Sabha® president Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza Capuchin presented the copies of the roles to all artistes of the drama.
Joseph Mathias lauded the works of the Konkani Natak Sabha® in promoting Konkani language and culture by organizing various programmes which inspired him to work for the cause of Konkani. He called upon everyone present to speak Konkani and teach their children Konkani. ‘In Gulf countries children have started speaking Konkani and many programmes are organized to promote Konkani language and culture,’ said Mathias. He appealed that everyone should attend all Konkani dramas without giving preference to a particular artiste or organization and wished success to all artistes and director.
Stany Mendonca congratulated the Konkani Natak Sabha® and wished success for the drama.
Ancy Paladka said, ’This drama by Joker Cascia is a best play and now under the direction of Dolla, it will be a different experience,’ said Ancy. He wished all artistes a success by reciting his poetry on the occasion.
Konkani Natak Sabha® assistant director Claude D’Souza, vice president Dolphy Saldanha, general secretary Sunil Menezes, joint secretary Jerry Pinto and treasurer Prem Lobo were also present.
Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks. Raymond D’Cunha compered the programme.
