Puttur, 11 Aug 2017: Election Cell of St Philomena College, here, in association with Puttur Taluk Office organized an awareness programme on ‘Enrollment of names in Voter List’ at College auditorium on Thursday, August 10.
The chief guest of the programme Sridhar K, deputy Tahashildar, Puttur taluk, in his address said, ‘Election Commission of India has stated that every citizen of India, having completed 18 years age is eligible to enroll the names in the electoral roll.’
The resource person Nagesh, FDA, Election Cell, Puttur taluk Office in his presentation said, ‘The Republic of India is the largest democracy in the world. India is one of the second populous and seventh largest country in terms of geographical area in the world. Election is the major event in the democratic system.’
Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director of the College, in his presidential address said, ‘Leaders don’t do different things. They do things differently. Today most of the people are worried about their privileges and they forget their duties. Everyone must learn civic responsibilities and must become a good human being.’
Janani and group presented the prayer song. The BLO and the library staff John Lobo welcomed the gathering. Geetha Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. The convener of the Election Cell Professor Dinakara Rao compered the programme.
