Mangalore: The Marathi horror movie produced by Mangalore based Aroona Bhat, having won 15 international awards across the world and setting the Maharashtra box-office on fire would be released in Karnataka to enthrall as well as scare the audiences of the state.
Aroona B Bhat, the co-producer of Lapachhapi, says she is confident of releasing the film in her own state. “The movie is doing really well across Maharashtra. We also have had successful screenings in New Delhi and Ahmedabad. We hope to reach out to the viewers in Karnataka soon,” she told Bangalore Mirror. The film has already been lapped up and honoured at various international film festivals. It was recently screened at London-India Film Festival, where it was described as a “path-breaking film in horror genre”. The film’s lead actor Pooja Sawant, director Vishal Furia and Aroona B Bhat walked the red carpet before the film’s screening.

Lapachhapi tells the story of a couple who is forced to take shelter in a secluded house haunted by suoer natural elements. Neha (Pooja Sawant), who is eight months pregnant, wants to save her baby from the spirits. “The flick is certain to educate the audience as much as it would entertain,” Aroona said, without divulging details.
Born and brought up in Mangalore, Aroona says she was known as a tomboy in her family while growing up. During her Mangaluru days, Aroona actively participated in debates and other competitions. “I always knew that I would be doing something different. I have always stood up for social causes. Later, I moved to Mumbai, where I met director-producer Suryaveer Singh Bhulla,” she said.
