Bantwal, 22 Apr 2017: The mortal remains of Abdul Jaleel, vice president of Karopady gram panchayat who was hacked to death by masked men was laid to rest in the presence of presidents of different gram panchayats, political leaders, ministers and MLAs, here, on Friday, April 21.
The mortal remains were brought in an ambulance to his home on Friday, at 9.00am, and laid to rest at Sammadka masjid burial ground, in Karopady village, near here. The mourning of his father TP member Usman Haji, his 3 brothers and family was unbearable. The religious leaders of different communities, political parties offered their heartfelt tributes.
Sayyed Muktar Tangal Kumbol, Kavalakatte Hazrat Tangal, Ali Tangal Kumbol and others performed the burial rites.
Addressing the media persons, district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai said, ‘Jaleel was a comrade who strived for the progress of his native Karopady. He had no enmity with anyone. We are saddened by his ghastly death. The police department has been pressurised to nab the killers at the earliest,’ said minister Rai in tears.
The state food and civil supplies minster U T Khader, Karnataka Cashew Development Board chairman B H Khader, ZP members M S Mohammed, Chandraprakash Shetty Thumbay and Padmashekar Jain, Mayilappa Salian, Kasargod ZP steering Committee chairman Harshad Varkady, Bantwal TP president Chandrahas Karkera, vice president Abbas Ali, presidents and vice presidents of different gram panchayats were present.
SP Bhushan Rao Borase formed 5 teams to nab the accused at the earliest. The preliminary investigations reveal it was committed by hardcore criminals in broad daylight.
