Mangaluru, 18 Mar 2017: The students should emulate the qualities of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution who struggled throughout his life because of social stigma that prevailed during his time, pursued higher studies to attain status, said corporator Pratiba Kulai.
Pratiba was speaking after inaugurating the symposium on Ambedkar’s ideology that was organized as part of 125th birth anniversary celebration of Dr B R Ambedka, by information and public relations department at Govind Das College, Suratkal, here on Friday, March 17.
Government B Ed College lecturer Manjula Shetty said, Ambedkar believed in education, organization and struggle that would uplift the situation of Dalit. It’s significant that Ambedkar had to wage struggle against the higher class who were oppressing Dalits. He has become the social reformer, despite born in Dalit family, undergoing social stigma,’ said Manjula.
Govind Das College principal Dr Muralidar Rao presided the programme.
The vice principal Krishnamurti, journalism lecturer Srinivas Hodeyala, Yakshagana artiste Girish Navada were present.
