Mumbai: Basavanna’s teachings are ever relevant - Dr Shivaprakash

Mumbai, 17 Oct 2017: Basava International Foundation, in collaboration with Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat, Mysuru Association Mumbai® and Mumbai University department of Kannada, organized a symposium on the relevance of Basavanna to present times at Mysuru Association auditorium, Matunga (East), here, on Sunday, October 15 morning.

 

Basava International Foundation president S Mahadevayya London was the chief guest of the occasion.

 

 

Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat president Dr Basavaraja Sadara presided the programme.

 

JNU Professor Dr H S Shivaprakash inaugurated the programme.

 

Kannada Development Authority president Professor S G Siddaramaiah delivered the keynote address on introspection on Basavanna.

 

Dr H S Shivaprakash in his presidential address said, ‘Basavanna was immortalized because of his teachings that enlightened intellectuals and all alike.

 

Dr Prabhu Chennabasava Swami of Motagi mutt, Athani – Belagavi; Jyotiba Phule Agricultural University chancellor Dr K P Vishwanat, Manohar M Korio, Dr Bharat Kumar Polipu, Dr K S Bhavani, B L Patil, Dr Mamata Rao, Surekha S Devadiga, M G Yedavad Vijayapura, Jambunat Kanchani, Suganda Satyamurti, K Govind Bhat, Subraya Shankar, Dr Ganapati Shankaralinga, Shivanna M Vakkar and others were present.

 

Mangaluru University head of department of Kannada Dr G N Upadhya, assistant professor Dr Poornima S Shetty were also present.

 

Dr Poornima compered the programme.

 

The students presented folk dances as part of celebration.
