Mangaluru: Mayor raids residential apartment, disconnects illegal water supply

Mangaluru, 10 Oct 2017: Mayor Kavitha Sanil on Monday conducted a raid on an independent apartment located in Maryhill and disconnected the illegal water supply here.
Addressing the media Mayor told that, “I received a written complaint from the residents of Pinto Garden, Mary Hill, saying that ‘Vailankanni’s Abode’ does not have a sewage treatment plant.
Mayor further said that the builder had only acquired a license for construction. The builder had neither acquired the completion certificate nor the door numbers. He had continued using the water and electricity which he had used during the time of construction. Out of the 24 apartments, only ten of them were occupied by owners, while the others were occupied by families whom the builder had permitted to stay there on temporary basis till his other apartments were completed.
The mayor also said that the builder will be directed to pay a huge fine for misuse of water and electricity supply and for breaking corporation rules.
Residents living in the building complained to the mayor that their repeated calls to the builder demanding door numbers have been ignored from a long time.
