Mangaluru: Sneha Sadan, AIDS rehabilitation centre, serves mankind with love & compassion

Mangaluru, 22 Aug 2017: Sneha Sadan, is located near Rosa Mistica High School, Gurpur –Kaikamba, on Mangaluru – Moodbidri NH 13, comes under the jurisdiction of Gurpur gram panchayat. It’s the home for orphaned children where inmates are cared with love and compassion. One can see the humanity at its best at Sneha Sadan.
The clergies of St Camilian International congregation are running Sneha Sadan for differently-abled children. They are serving the humanity by healthcare services since over 450 years. Saint Camillus de Lellis founded the congregation to serve the poor with healthcare services.
Sneha Sadan was first set up at Gurpur – Kaikamba, to care for the sick but extended its services to AIDS patients. Sneha Sadan was set up in Bengaluru during 1997, to serve AIDS patients. Sneha Sadan in Gurpur – Kaikamba, Mangaluru was set up during 2001, where AIDS children are cared with tender love. Sneha Sadan was constructed on 2-acre plot donated by entrepreneur Eugene Rent of Nantoor, here, serving the humanity without limelight. Sneha Sadan Trust is operating many centers across India.
St Camillus de Lellis followed divine call to serve the sick and ailing. He found Jesus in their sufferings that were being followed by his followers. Their key objective was to serve the poor with healthcare services. Sneha Sadan was inaugurated in Mangaluru on February 4, 2001. It’s the home for orphaned where they are cared with love and compassion. It has 65 beds hospital, and accommodates 2,500 adult AIDS patients and 200 AIDS affected children. It also cares for 40 orphaned children and 40 elderly. They are provided accommodation, food, healthcare and skill training. It was recognized by Karnataka women and children department in 2015.

Sneha Sadan is involved in many activities, while laying emphasis on health and studies. Its training the children with multi-skills to be competitive in fast changing world. Its providing primary and high school education. It believes in the happiness of its inmates rather than burden with studies. Special classes are also held at Sneha Sadan.
It’s helping the children to overcome negative thoughts and improve their studies by upgrading their skills depending on their aptitude to lead better lives. The doctors and nurses are serving the inmates with full dedication with counseling services. The majority of children are on anti-retroviral therapy. The nurses are caring the children to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. The health checkup and dental camps are held periodically.
The children are provided nutritious food, while a few children are provided special food on the advice of doctors. The cultural events are being held to help the inmates to unearth their inherent talent. There are playgrounds where all children play together.
The children are trained in colorful candle making at the manufacturing unit. They make varieties of arts and greeting cards. They celebrate Children’s Day and national festivals with much fanfare. The children regardless of caste, creed and faith live love and comfort under one roof, said Fr Teji Thomas.
They need you support The grants for Sneha Sadan dried up since September 2011, but their humanitarian deeds go unhindered with the generous contribution of donors. It has no known income of whatsoever, but runs purely on support of donors. How about extending our might towards Sneha Sadan, to continue their noble deeds.
