Karnataka: APP to promote Udupi as a tourist destination

Udupi: Udupi district is all set to promote itself as a prominent tourist destination in Karnataka. In this regard, an Android app that will provide complete details about tourist destinations in the district will be launched in the first week of August.

 

Speaking to Bangalore Mirror, Anitha Bhaskar, Assistant Director, Tourism Department, said, “We are working on an app called Udupi Tourism that is scheduled for release in the first week of August. This is to promote Udupi as a tourist destination and the app will have contact details, places to visit, accommodation, tourist guide, hospitals, emergency contacts and so on. District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj will launch the app along with an upgraded version of our website.”

In addition, the department has already prepared jingles that will be formally launched. The department will tie up with radio stations to promote tourism through social media. “A short video of 40 seconds promoting Udupi as a tourist destination will also be released. This would be played at prominent locations including Mangaluru Airport and hotels so that people are attracted to the town that has beautiful unexplored beaches and important tourist destinations,” Bhaskar said.

 

Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis is taking the lead and working towards making Udupi a much sought-after destination.

 

Anitha said St Mary’s Island will be developed. We have plans to introduce nature trails. The department is working on a DPR.
