ICYM and YCS Pangla unit organizes an amazing cultural program ’Moriye Sangi Ek Sanz’

Udupi, 18 Jul 2017: Pangla parishioners of St. John’s Evangelist Church give highest importance two feasts dedicated to Mother Mary i.e. Feast of Nativity and Feast of Perpetual succour. On both occasions or feasts celebrated with great devotion and veneration to Mother Mary and hence they begin with Holy Eucharistic Holy Masses wherein large number of faithful attend and pray.

 

Last Sunday 16 July being the feast of Mother of Perpetual succour the feast began with great devotion as large number of parishioners gathered in St. John the Evangelist church for the Holy Mass concelebrated by Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves (PP) along with Fr. Vincent Coelho (Principal), Fr. Rayan D’Souza (Pangla), Fr. Royson Fernandes (Asst. PP) and Fr. Lawrence Mendonsa (Res. Priest).

 

 

In the evening a special cultural program was arranged by ICYM and YCS units of Pangla Parish titled “Moriye Sangi Ek Sanz" means An evening with Mother Mary”. It was a unique cultural event wherein all associations of the parish present a program each of 10 mnts duration. The whole event was uniquely organized by ICYM and YCS. The most well presented programs were skits and tableaus based on biblical themes and also a few hilarious skits on social issues which were thoroughly enjoyed by all present on the occasion.

 

The evening began at 6:15pm by a prayer song by Pangla Parish Choir followed by a prayer dance by little kids of Moriyal Sodality.

 

Nihal Allen Dias (ICYM President) accorded a warm welcome to all the guests and audience present on the occasion. Fr. Vincent Coelho (Principal, St. John’s Academy) delivered a brief message and applauded the efforts put up by all parishioners in the celebration of feast of Mother Mary. He said its only in Pangla Parish has this tradition of great devotion to Mother Mary and a unique was of celebration of the feast. He thanked ICYM and YCS members for organizing such a devotional celebration of feast of Mother Mary.

 

Loads of entertainment items were then presented by all associations of parish which were really meaningful and based on parables from New Testament. The hilarious comedy skit by ICYM members enthralled the audience as every audience burst with laughter riot watching their performances. It was indeed a great memorable comedy by these young guys that provided total entertainment for one and all.

 

On the occasion, Ren Dias, a state level cricket champion, coach of Indian Cricket under 21, 19 and 14 was felicitated on the occasion by Parish Priest Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves. He was honoured with traditional shawl, a garland, fruits and a memento.

 

Speaking on the occasion Fr. Ferdinand who recently transferred to Pangla Parish spoke highly on the unique celebration of the feast by Pangla Parishioners. He being first time attending such a program on this auspicious occasion said that there is a great devotion to Mother Mary with the parishioners. A lot of efforts and practice has been put behind the scene to present this unique program. He praised all the associations for their selfless efforts and enthusiasm to provide such a grand celebration. He said it also signifies the family bond between the parishioners and provides a platform for the young to be active to present their talents and unity. The programs presented were of very high quality from young and old and must be commanded he concluded.

 

Also on the occasion the students of St. John’s Educational Institutions who exelled in SSLC and PUC exams 2016-17 were felicitated with the mementos.

 

Fr. Royson Fernandes also delivered a message on the occasion and said that today I see everyone gathered here are smilling and laughing enjoying the great presentations. All are very happy and that happiness should continue all the time. Let’s be always happy by sharing our happiness with friends, relatives and others. Let’s be good example to others by extending our hand of helping nature and make others happy by our good deeds. Let this tradition of celebrating feast of Mother Mary continue every years so we remain happy all the time he concluded.

 

The grand entertaining program concluded with a vote of thanks. The program was conducted by emcee of the day Nikita and Ornel.
